The Martinez Waterfront Amphitheater roared with laughter once again on August 18th for our 3rd season of Comedy Under the Stars. This show benefited the Volunteers of America Foster A Dream Program and raised $2300 for this wonderful non-profit helping our areas foster youth.

Mickey Joseph, our headliner was a finalist in the SF Comedy Competition and had frequent appearances on ABC’S America’s Funniest People and NBC’S Friday Night Videos. He performed 1753 shows as Joey Bishop in The Rat Pack is Back! at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and in 110 cities across the country. When asked about his experience with the production, Mickey noted, “I did that show so much, my toupee started going bald.”
He is author of “What Would Don Corleone Do?” a humorous and touching book about his experiences in stand up comedy and surviving as a single parent. He is well known for obscure celebrity impressions; John Wayne as Michael Corleone, Sidney Poitier ordering breakfast, Sargent Bilko on Acid, and Ricky Ricardo singing a pornographic version of Cuban Pete, recorded live on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Program.
Mickey has performed with Ellen Degeneres, Drew Carey, Craig Ferguson, George Lopez, Bill Engvall, Richard Lewis, Kevin Polakc, The Amazing Jonathan, Vinnie Favorito, Zack Galafanakis, Wille Nelson, Huey Lewis, Michael Buble, Mort Sahl, Dick Gregory and Robin Williams. Mickey's well-tailored, hysterically funny comedy act should not be missed.

Our next feature act was another one of our all-time favorite comedians and she did not disappoint.
AUNDRÉ THE WONDERWOMAN is a Bay Area favorite. Steve Harvey (“Kings of Comedy”; Family Feud) was the first to give her a chance on the comedy stage and described her as “a new comic with a funny way of saying things.” Since then, she’s made a name for herself as one of the best known political comics in the Bay, telling the truth in a funny way. She has been honored as “Oakland’s Funniest Comic on the Strip,” “The Funniest Woman in Half Moon Bay,” and “Winner of the Inaugural Russian River Comedy Competition.” She was a semi-finalist in the 2005 San Francisco International Comedy Competition and in 2008, received the “Stand Up For Justice” award from San Francisco-based Death Penalty Focus for her work against the death penalty. |
