Contra Costa Comedy

Picture
CoCoComedy Fans, join us June 17th at the Martinez Campbell Theater at 8 pm as we celebrate Pride month with lots of laughs.

We’re lucky and excited to once again get Kurt Weitzmann for this show as well. Kurt has been seen on Comedy Central, MTV, and on the stages of every San Francisco comedy club ever to come or go. Kurt was a finalist in the 2015 San Francisco Comedy Competition. He has commanded numerous appearances in SF Sketchfest and is a veteran of the Vancouver Comedy festival, where he co-produced three nights of the infamous Hitler, Jesus, and Obama Roasts. Kurt began doing stand up in the late 80s at the infamous HOLY CITY ZOO, working with such personalities as Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Rob Schneider, and Margaret Cho. In between Stand Up performances Kurt founded numerous Bay Area sketch groups, including NERVOUS LAUGHTER which was touted as “Funnier than any given season of Saturday Night Live in the last ten years” by BAM MAGAZINE. He is currently a lead cast member in Dinner Detective, an improvisational theater show. . Kurt has written, produced and performed numerous comedy shows at The HBO WORKSPACE, THE COMEDY CENTRAL STAGE and has created hordes of sketches and comedy shows at THE FAKE GALLERY -Best place to see comedy in LA- LA MAGAZINE. Kurt is an award winning playwright and filmmaker and his documentary #BeRobin The Movie about Margaret Cho’s homeless outreach campaign inspired by the philanthropy of Robin Williams, won two best of festival awards in 2016. “Comic Genius” –SF Weekly “God, that’s funny” – San Francisco Chronicle “A comedic send-up of TV roasts, in this case for der Führer, thus gets high marks. I've seen a lot of vulgar, stupid roasts on the tube of late, but never one as funny or so redeeming in its offensiveness”. –BACKSTAGE WEST Magazine “The treacherous high-wire of low-brow lampooning that is The Hitler Roast rides you hard and puts you away wet” -SOCAL Magazine “Kurt Weitzmann - casually, breezily blasphemous” – PATTON OSWALT - Silver Screen Fiend: Learning About Life from an Addiction to Film.

Julia Jackson is a comedienne and solo artist known for her biting social commentary, as well as actually biting audience members from time to time.  The Milwaukee native takes on all topics, from politicians to the NFL. This rising comedy star has performed at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was a Semi-Finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition.  Her solo performance piece “Children Are Forever: All Sales Are Final” won the Best Non-Fiction Show at the 2016 United Solo Festival in New York.  Julia has appeared in the film “From X to Z”, and has worked with Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, and Paul Mooney.

San Francisco native, Justin Lucas, can be seen acting on both stage and film when he’s not writing sketch comedy. Having performed stand-up since 2011, he's won several competitions, and was given a “Bay Area Reporter” award for Best Male Comedian. He fantabulous hair!”
